Holiday Film Spotlight: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)
‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ (1989)
The Griswold’s have taken a cross-country road trip to Wally World, travelled to many countries in Europe, and enjoyed an eye-opening vacation to Las Vegas. However, the most fun audiences have ever had in watching the Griswold family’s misadventures would be the one that happened right at home, in 1989′s ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ with all the relatives you could ever wish to NOT be around.
Clark & Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase & Beverly D’Angelo) decide to host a family Christmas at their home, and all the relatives are invited. Well, some aren’t invited but they show up anyways (Cousin Eddie, of course). To kick off the holidays, the family goes tree hunting, sledding, shopping, and displaying the largest amounts of twinkle lights you have even seen on a single family residence. Clark‘s goal is to surprise everyone with a swimming pool bought with his sure-fire Christmas bonus check that he is counting on arriving in time, but what happens when it doesn’t arrive by Christmas Eve?
Full of non-stop laughs and some of the most memorable quotes ever heard in film, this is definitely one holiday that will live on in infamy. Year after year this film is shown in theaters and on television for all to enjoy, and now it is here on Hark for all your Griswold needs.
